Privacy

Short version: this site collects only what you type into its two forms, the contact form and the correction form.

What is collected

If you submit the contact form, Candor receives the name, business name and your role there, email address, preferred contact method, phone number, kind of business and how many people work in it, services, and any additional information you entered. That information is used to respond to you and for nothing else.

If you submit the correction form, Candor receives the pages or entries you selected, the kind of inaccuracy, your description and the sources you named, and, if you asked to hear what came of it, your name, email address and phone number. That information is used to check the correction and, where contact details were given, to tell you the outcome.

The Classifier runs entirely in your browser. The answers you give it are not transmitted to Candor, stored on a server, or recorded anywhere. Closing the page discards them.

What is not collected

No advertising trackers, no analytics profiles sold or shared with third parties, no cross-site tracking. This site does not sell personal information.

How it's kept

Submissions from both forms arrive by email and are retained only as long as they're useful for the conversation they belong to. A message is deleted on request.

Third parties

The site is hosted by a third-party hosting provider and uses a third-party form service to deliver messages from both forms, along with a web font service. These providers may log standard technical request information, such as IP address and browser type, as part of delivering the page.

Client records

Financial records belonging to clients are governed by the engagement letter, not by this website. They are kept confidential and are never used for any purpose other than performing the engaged work.

Questions & suggestions

contact@booksbycandor.com reaches Candor — including for anything in the Classifier that could work better. Suggestions from the people who actually run the projects are worth more than another read-through in-house.
